The Alliance by Institut Paul Bocuse is proud to welcome Bilkent University as a new member.

Bilkent University - the first private, nonprofit university in Turkey - was founded on October 20, 1984, by Professor Ihsan Dogramaci, M.D., with the fundamental aim of creating a center of excellence in higher education and research. The name "Bilkent" exemplifies this aim, since it is an acronym of "bilim kenti" : Turkish for "city of learning and science". The University campus is located off the main highway to Eskisehir about 12kms west of the center of Ankara, and covers an area of more than 300 hectares.

Bilkent University is one of the top leading universities based on QS World University Ratings and Times Higher Education in the country. Currently, Bilkent University has over 12,000 students from various countries in 9 faculties. One of the most dynamic departments of the university is the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management which offers a four-year B.Sc. program in Tourism and Hotel Management accredited by the Council of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Tourism Education in Turkey.

Established in 1988, in accordance with the vision of university founder regarding the importance of tourism for Turkey, Bilkent University is the oldest private institution of higher education in the country to provide instruction in this field though its Department of Tourism and Hotel Management. In the years since its founding, the department has graduated over 3,900 students. Its graduates are some of the most sought-after in the world, valued particularly for their knowledge in foreign languages, the quality of their education, and their positive attitudes and ethical values. With English as its language of instruction, the department offers a B.Sc. degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management designed to prepare its graduates for managerial positions in the industry by combining management courses with tourism, hospitality and culinary related subjects such as hotel operations, food production and food and beverage services. Students graduate from the program with extensive knowledge of the industry and strong management skills, which serve them well in their future careers.

Last year we had the opportunity to visit the campus of Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon. Subsequently, we had the pleasure of hosting two distinguished members of the prestigious institute and discussing our application for an allied membership in January 2020. We were delighted by the decision of the Alliance Admission Committee on the validation of our membership which we firmly believe will lead to a highly productive cooperation between the two educational institutions of the world's most renowned destinations involved in creativity and innovations in gastronomy and culinary arts developments. We consider the practices of Institut Paul Bocuse as a benchmark in hospitality, food service and culinary arts education and training to benefit our students throughout their professional career."

Since 2004, the Alliance by Institut Paul Bocuse composed of the world's top Hospitality, Food Service and Culinary Arts Management schools and universities has been expanding over the four continents. This unique alliance covers today 20 partners in 20 countries.
