Founded in 1984, Bilkent University, the first private nonprofit university with English-medium instruction in Turkey, continues to transform to create a center of excellence in higher education and research. The School of Applied Technology and Management has officially become the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

According to the decision published in the Official Gazette on 21 August 2020, Bilkent University's School of Applied Technology and Management has been changing into the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Inaugurated in 1988 with one program in the area of tourism and hospitality, the School comprised three departments including the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, member of the Alliance by Institut Paul Bocuse.

The School's mission had been excellence in forming young professionals for the industries that have shaped the world's economies for the last three decades and will continue their leadership positions for many years to come. In order to achieve this mission, the School was committed to perfection in teaching and close collaboration with the industry. The accomplishments of its graduates show that the School's philosophy in education had met industry expectations and gained a merited confidence. Having completed its mission successfully, the School today is transforming into the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

Under the new Faculty, the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management will continue to offer its applied education through both practical hours incorporated into the courses and industrial training internships, during which students enrich their learning in contact with real life.

Embracing a well-balance proportion of dedicated academics and industry professionals all acclaimed experts in their respective fields, the faculty of the department will continue to be committed to a high quality education with the foremost objective of fashioning the next generations for the tourism, hospitality and food and beverage sectors. The curriculum of the four-year BSc program of the department prepares students for a career in the hotel and restaurant business both domestically and worldwide. Courses focus on managerial skills, finance and accounting, hotel operations, food and beverage, computer literacy, fluency in English and competence in a second foreign language. Under the Faculty of Applied Sciences, now the departement is preparing to offer MSc programs in hospitality and good and beverage related subjects.

Bilkent University's Faculty of Applied Sciences joined the Alliance in 2020.
