Chef Nicolas Vautherin and Charlotte Jacquier meet NKHUT students

Chef Nicolas Vautherin, Chef Instructor at Institut Paul Bocuse, went to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to present the richness of French Gastronomy to students of National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism.

Passionate about passing on and sharing his long experience, Chef Nicolas Vautherin has been fascinating by cuisine from his young age. After his training, which helped him discovering the richness of French gastronomy, he began his career in Paris before to move to Antilles Archipelago. Curious and creative by nature, Chef Vautherin worked as Chef de Partie and Private Chef for a number of years and leveraged his experience to open different restaurants. As he enjoys transmitting, he decided to become teacher to transmit his passion and knowledge. He joined the pedagogical team of Institut Paul Bocuse in 2018.

On November 2019, Nicolas Vautherin flew to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to give several demonstrations and workshops to over 200 Taiwanese students enrolled in the Chinese Cuisine Bachelor program, the Western Cuisine Bachelor program and the International Bachelor program. As a member of the Alliance by Institut Paul Bocuse, National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKHUT) invited Chef Vautherin as a special guest for a one-week event dedicated to French Gastronomy. NKUHT students had the chance to discover and taste the best and most famous French classical recipes, as well as learnt about the richness of French cuisine. Charlotte Jacquier, Strategic Partnerships Manager, participated in the visit and gave a lecturer about the evolution of cuisine and the trends of today, on November 28. The visit was also a good opportunity to promote the strong partnership that links the two institutions since 2006, and especially highlight the latest collaborative project: the launching of the student mobility.

From January 2020, two students of National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism and two students of Institut Paul Bocuse will spend one semester in the campus of the other school. This experience abroad will enable French and Taiwanese students to learn a series of new techniques, to improve skills and discover a new culture. Since the beginning, NKUHT and Institut Paul Bocuse have been endeavoring to build up an international learning environment to meet the trend of globalization and prepare their students for international careers.
